Grapes

Virtually the whole annual production of the 1100 tons of grapes processed by our company come from the area of Pieria, while a smaller quantity is produced in Kavala, Central Greece and Corinth.

The main export markets for grapes are the UK, Germany and Poland. Protofanousi has immediate plans to double the amount it sells, with expansion into other, mainly European markets.  Apart from the famous Crimson and Thomson, PROTO has already collaborated with growers which planted new seedless table grapes varieties such as the white Sugar Crisp, Sweet Globe and red Jack's Salute, Sweet Celebration by IFG and the white Arra 15, red Arra 19 and black Arra 32 by Grapa Varieties Ltd. These new varieties have a later harvest time window, have excellent storeability and of course look and taste amazing! Since 2019, these varieties are available to our customers!

Preservation tips for customer:

Grapes can be preserved in the refrigerator for a period of 10 to 15 days on average. Any grapes showing evidence of spoilage (browning) should be removed immediately because the spoilage may spread. It is recommended that grapes be placed in a plastic bag to minimize dehydration. Finally, it is advisable to wash them right before serving, and never before.
