Fruit industry listed among the 29 fields with strong export potential

NEWS

A new research held by the Centre of Planning and Economic Research shows that 29 production sectors of the Greek economy present high export potential. 97 fields were evaluated according to their exporting activity as well as their global demand, with the lower indicator counting as zero and the highest reaching 100.

Out of the 97 fields, 29 showcased an indicator higher than 50. Specifically, the greatest export potential was noted in the fields of: nutrition products made of fruit and vegetables, olive oil, fruit, grapes, peaches, kiwi and watermelons, fish, cotton, tobacco, vegetables, dairy (especially yoghurt and cheese), sugar and sugary products.

Out of these 29 fields, 16 recorded an increase in their share concerning global export during the time frame of 2009-2013, proving that Greek companies do manage to take advantage of global opportunities despite the obstacles set by the recession.
